Karimah Hassan is an internationally acclaimed multidisciplinary artist whose work fuses painting, poetry, and performance to explore spirituality, consciousness, and the transformative power of art. With a rich heritage rooted in Wales, Yemen, and Bangladesh, Karimah’s practice is deeply inspired by her Islamic faith and the themes of migration, healing, and mysticism. Her artistry bridges cultural narratives, creating profound connections between tradition and contemporary expression. Karimah’s innovative approach to art centers on community engagement, bringing people together through immersive showcases that blend live painting, spoken word, open mic sessions, and music performances. These curated events serve as spaces for collective understanding, healing, and celebration, where the boundaries between artist, subject, and audience dissolve into shared experiences.

A graduate of the Royal College of Art in London with an MA in Architecture, Karimah has since emerged as a leading figure in the global art scene. She has collaborated with some of the world’s most prestigious institutions and brands, including The Barbican, Burberry, Salvatore Ferragamo, The High Line in New York, Toronto Arts Council, Vans, and Arts Council England. As an artist-in-residence at the renowned Alexander McQueen Sarabande Foundation, she developed projects that garnered critical acclaim and positioned her as a bold new voice in contemporary art. Her groundbreaking project Strangers Yearbook, a real-time Insta-gallery capturing the emotional states of strangers during lockdown, achieved worldwide success. It culminated in a published book and a permanent public exhibition at King’s Cross, London. Karimah’s work has also been celebrated in high-profile exhibitions, including Her-Story at Maddox Gallery (2020), her debut solo show at Unit 31, London, a solo exhibition at Sarabande Foundation (2022), and an artist residency at The Standard NYC (2022). 

Karimah’s current projects reflect her evolving ambition to redefine the role of art in modern culture. She is developing The Gremlins, her widely popular weekly newsletter with thousands of subscribers, and completing her second book—a collection of poems and paintings exploring themes of identity, faith, and resilience. Her first spoken word visual album is also in production, blending her signature fusion of poetry and painting with cinematic storytelling. Karimah’s work resonates deeply with young, consciously minded creatives, offering art as a gateway to self-healing and transformation.
