Born in Amman in 1969, Hilda Hiary went on to graduate from the Univeristy of Jordan with a BA in Sociology and Political Science in 1990. For the next few years she began to exhibit as a self-taught artist. Over a decade later she obtained her second BA from Zeitouna University in Fine Arts (Printmaking). Hiary's work has evolved over the years, both in subject matter and style, she has moved in and out of abstract and figurative works and continues to do so.

However throughout her journey her voice has shone through in her characteristic strong lines and patterns, coupled with her bright colour schemes, Hiary is never one to create a ’shy’ piece. Her works are proud and confident and command your attention. The artist has a knack for bringing in elements of Abstraction, Expressionism, Pop Art and Primitivism and creating a seamless blend. This mixture creates works that are beautiful and demanding. Strong and always full of emotion her figures stare out through the pieces, into our space, creating a dialogue between the viewer and the piece.
